Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure used to gently exfoliate the outermost layer of skin in a bid to reveal smooth, fresh skin underneath. Although home kits for microdermabrasion are also available in the market now, it is always a wise decision to get the procedure done by a professional in a skin care facility, as only a dermatologist trained for this procedure can do it in the best way.

However, not everybody can afford multiple sessions of expensive microdermabrasion treatment. Therefore, people often look for less expensive alternatives, but most of these cheaper alternatives fail to work as well as does microdermabrasion. If you are also seeking effective home remedies for skin resurfacing then you have come to the right place. Here we will discuss you some simple yet effective alternatives to professional skin resurfacing.

Scrub your skin with sugar and salt:

Granular structure of sugar and salt makes these two edibles ideal for skin resurfacing. Mix one tablespoon each of salt and sugar with half tablespoon olive oil. Gently rub this mixture on your face for 5 to 7 minutes, using circular, upward motions. Don’t be harsh while scrubbing your face, this may damage your skin. Scrub your face with this mixture twice a week for one to two months to see significant improvement in your skin texture.

Baking Soda Paste:

Grittiness of baking soda allows you to gently exfoliate your facial skin. Combine two tablespoons of baking soda with enough water to get a thin paste. Apply this paste onto your face, rubbing it gently into the skin for a few minutes. Leave baking soda paste on for 10 minutes before washing your face with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry and apply a moisturizer containing Vitamin A, C or E.

Papaya and Pineapple Mask:

Papaya and pineapple are rich in acids and enzymes that help remove dead skin cells. Cut both fruits in small chunks and process them in a blender set on high until you get a smooth puree. Apply this puree onto your face just like any OTC face mask. Leave the fruit mask on for a few minutes and then rinse your face with cool water.

Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent that people have been using since ancient times to enhance their skin tone. Besides lightening complexion, lemon juice can also be used to bleach unwanted facial hair and treat other skin imperfections. When applied on face, lemon juice also helps remove dead skin cells. Squeeze juice from a lemon and apply it onto the skin using a cotton ball and leave it on for 7 to 10 minutes. Rinse your face with cool water and apply a good moisturizer.
