Unwanted hair can be a big nuisance and can stand between you and your perfect look. Many people use old fashioned methods to remove them, risking injury, enduring pain and getting a benefit that lasts no more than a few days. Laser treatments on the other hand are the latest thing and they really work well on all counts.
Whether you are looking to get rid of all the body hair or want to give them a thinner look (which most men prefer) laser treatment is there for you. It is not strange that the demand of the procedure is high in the United Arab Emirates. In the following lines, we shall learn a little bit more about the treatment and why you should choose it ahead of the traditional options.
The traditional options
The traditional methods that are employed for hair removal are mostly waxing, shaving, plucking and tweezing. While they do work to remove the hair, they offer a temporary fix. Within a few days, the hair come back and the process needs to be repeated all over again. Some of these can be quite painful and the risk of getting an infection and that of ingrown hair is very real. With few pros and many cons, the traditional route for hair removal is most certainly not the finest option on offer.
Laser hair removal
Laser hair removal on the other hand offers results that are permanent and there is no need to repeat the treatment once the required sessions have been completed. The risk of an infection after the treatment is very low and there is no risk of ingrown hair. Unlike the hair removal options, there is little pain involved.
The process begins with application of a cooling gel to the area to be treated to minimize the sensation of discomfort. Cool air during the process may also be blown to make it even more comfortable. The laser is set at specific frequencies so that it only target the dark matter, the melanin, in the hair follicles and the areas of the skin nearby are spared.
The laser heats up the melanin which in turns shrinks the size of the follicle and eventually takes away the ability to reproduce hair. Within a few days’ time, follicles shed and appear similar to blackheads. Approximately 20% of the follicles shed after the first treatment session. Five to seven sessions are enough for most people to get rid of all the unwanted hair.
Once all the sessions have been completed, the hair will stop growing. Usually a few weeks break is needed between sessions. Once a year touch up sessions may be needed due to the hair that were in resting phase initially. Other than that, nothing else is required.
The main differences between the treatments are quite obvious. The results for one are permanent and hair do not grow back. There is no need to use laser every few days like the other methods. The skin becomes smooth and not scaly due to constant shaving or waxing.
Waxing and plucking can cause bleeding which does not happen in laser treatment. Similarly the ingrown hair are quite common in other methods that do not take place in laser hair removal.
The bottom line
If you arelooking for a permanent solution for the unwanted hair that possess little threat of infections or ingrown hair, laser hair removal is the only option you have. Mull over it and with the many pros it offers, make the right call.
