Back in the heat of the summer when temperatures were topping 45 degrees and above, we thought the heat will never come to an end. And now December is here and so is winter, finally I might add. But with the cold also comes some disadvantages which include the sniffles and dry skin.
Since we are in the business of skin and not sniffles, we will be giving you winter tips on how to fight that dry skin on your face, feet and hands. Sometimes the dryness gets so bad if it is not taken care of to the point of flaking and cracking. This dryness, according to experts is attributed to lack of moisture in the air in addition to having hot showers and heating in the house.
There are many different ways to avoid this unfortunate scenario and today we will be giving you the topmost tips.
Find a specialist: It might seem like nothing but it will be worth your while to seek a specialist’s advice on the reasons behind your winter dry skin and what you can do about it. At Laser Skin Care Clinic, we have a number of specialists who can reverse the effects of the cold weather on your skin.
Stay hydrated: Apologies for disappointing you but we are not supposed to stay well hydrated during the summer months only. One of the ways you can keep your skin hydrated is from the inside out by drinking a lot of water and other fluids.
Use Moisturizer: If you feel that you can’t follow your doctor’s advise of having eight or more glasses of water per day, then maybe in addition to the liquids you will manage to get into your body, you can moisturize your skin from the outside. Moisturizers do not have to cost an arm and a leg for them to be good; you can easily get a fairly good one at a fair price.
Milk:Who knew that milk could work wonders for a dry and flaky skin? Since your skin will be dry and devoid of any natural oils, natural milk can do the trick. In addition to adding skimmed milk to your diet, you can go the Cleopatra way and take a bath in milk. This does not mean filling your bathtub with fresh milk, but adding at least two cups to your warm bath water and soaking in for 20 minutes. The lactic acid and natural oils in the milk will soothe your skin and take it back to its former soft glory.
Switch on the humidifier: Since the heaters blow out a lot of dry air which ends up drying your skin, it will be a good idea to hook up a humidifier in your home or office to counteract the effects of this hot air. So instead of your skin getting dry in exchange for you keeping war, you will be able to kill two birds with one stone. Keep warm minus the dry skin.
Keep your baths to the minimum: As mentioned above, hot showers are part of the culprits that dry out your skin during winter. This is because we tend to heat the water a notch higher than usual in addition to staying ages under the hot shower. To fight the dryness on your skin, try to make your bath water lukewarm and stay for the shortest time possible under the shower.
